J. Vondrak et al., THE INCORPORATION OF SF6 INTO GRAPHITE AND OTHER MATERIALS, Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 63(1), 1998, pp. 57-63
The formation of intercalation compounds from sulfur fluoride SF6 and
layered substrates was observed. The process is accelerated if the sub
strate had been preexposed to SF6 partly decomposed by electric spark
discharges. The amount of intercalated SF6 decreases in the series gra
phite > molybdenum disulfide > boron nitride. The promotion effect is
explained by exfoliation of the substrate due to highly reactive fissi
on products of SF6.
