Abstract
Fredholm determinant asymptotics of convolution operators on large fin ite intervals with rational symbols having real zeros are studied. The explicit formulae obtained can be considered as a genuine generalizat ion of Szego-Kac's formula to symbols with real zeros. Connections wit h the Efimov effect are discussed.
