Abstract
The use of transfected cell lines has provided a powerful approach to study the functions of transfected proteins, This approach has also pr oven useful to determine the effects of acute and chronic ethanol expo sure on particular proteins. We show here, however, that the effects o f ethanol on transfected proteins vary between transiently transfected cells and stably transfected cell lines. Moreover, we found that the effect of ethanol on a particular protein depends on the plasmid vecto rs used for the transfection.
