It is well established that the ternary intermetallic family of compou
nds UT2Si2, where T denotes a transition metal, shows a rich variety o
f electronic and magnetic ground-state properties. In order to better
understand the magnetic properties of these materials, we have investi
gated the behavior of the electrical resistivity of UNi2Si2 and UPd2Si
2 as a function of temperature and pressure. In the case of UNi2Si2, t
he proposed pressure-temperature phase diagram is very similar to its
magnetic-field-temperature phase diagram. The pressure-temperature pha
se diagram obtained for both compounds is also compared to predictions
made using a mean-field Landau-type analysis.
