Ea. Jagla, LONGITUDINAL AND TRANSVERSE DISSIPATION IN A SIMPLE-MODEL FOR THE VORTEX LATTICE WITH SCREENING, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 57(9), 1998, pp. 5466-5473
Transport properties of the vortex lattice in high-temperature superco
nductors are studied using numerical simulations in the case in which
the nonlocal interactions between vortex lines are dismissed. The resu
lts obtained for the longitudinal and transverse resistivities in the
presence of quenched disorder are compared with the results of experim
ental measurements and other numerical simulations where the full inte
raction is considered. For all but highly anisotropic samples the qual
itative agreement obtained indicates that the transport characteristic
s of the vortex structure in real materials are mainly a consequence o
f the topological configuration of the vortex structure only. In addit
ion, for highly anisotropic samples, a regime is obtained where longit
udinal dissipation appears at temperatures where transverse dissipatio
n is still vanishingly small. I discuss the possibility of observing t
his regime in real samples.
