Basic features of carbon-carbon spin-spin coupling constants including experimental techniques, theory and computation along with their gene ral trends and stereochemical behavior are reviewed. Special attention is focused upon bond and dihedral angle dependences, orientation of t he terminal substituent, through-space and non-bonded interactions, lo ne pair effects and configuration of the anomeric center in carbohydra tes.
