Abstract
Apparent shear stress, apparent viscosity and die swell of the gum and silica filled EPDM rubber compounds were determined with the Monsanto Processability Tester. There is a significant reduction in the stress and viscosity by blowing agent in the presence of curing agent vs. it s absence. Viscosity reduction factor is found to be dependent on the blowing agent loading, shear rate and temperature.
