Abstract
The characteristics of the horizontal conveyance of dense phase flow o f powder were experimentally investigated using a progressive cavity p ump. The results show that the pressure drop depends on the dynamic fr iction coefficient of the powder, i.e. dynamic wall friction coefficie nt or dynamic internal friction coefficient. At the same time, the fri ction factor also depends on the dynamic friction coefficient. Next, t he correlation between the friction factor and the dynamic friction co efficient of powder was discussed. The pressure drop and friction fact or were affected by the flow pattern of the powder. These should be es timated by the dynamic internal friction coefficient for plug flow, bu t in other cases these are estimated by the dynamic wall friction coef ficient.
