K. Yamamoto et al., THE SEPARATION OF IRREGULARLY SHAPED FINE PARTICLES BY A VIBRATING ROTATING-DISK, Advanced powder technology, 9(1), 1998, pp. 81-95
A shape separator equipped with a vibrating rotating disk was develope
d, and its performance was investigated for irregularly shaped particl
es of 50-300 mu m in size under various operating conditions. The shap
e separation was examined from the shape analysis of sorted particles
and found to be effective even for 50 mu m particles, By considering f
actors that obstruct the rolling motion of particles, it was confirmed
that higher separation efficiencies could be obtained by minimizing t
he particle adhesion to the disk, the surface roughness of the disk an
d the degree of sliding or excessive bouncing of particles on the disk
