Abstract
Carol Lupton is the Director of the Social Services Research and Infor mation Unit at the University of Portsmouth. She has researched and wr itten on many aspects of social and health care policy and practice. I n addition to her research on family group conferences, she is current ly working on an investigation of the role of health professionals in the child protection process and on consumer involvement in health car e commissioning.
