A model study of the underground migration of Ce-144(III) from radioac
tive wastes in an homogeneous environment (clinoptilolit) has been und
ertaken and compared with an earlier one treating the dispersion of Pu
-239(II) in clay. For this purpose pertinent software has been develop
ed. The adsorption capacity and the distribution coefficients for the
system Ce/clinoptilolit, as well as some hydraulic parameters needed f
or the simulation, have been assessed or determined experimentally. Th
e calculated migration rates of Ce-144 and Pu-239 have been compared.
