Abstract
In this paper, a frequency domain method is presented for the analysis of mechanical vibrations (chatters) in cold rolling of thin sheet on tandem mills. The effects of parameter variations and adjustments are illustrated by plotting various curves in the frequency domain, and fr om these curves the stability characteristics can be studied. The pres ented results are useful for system design and parameter adjustment of physical systems. (C) 1997 The Franklin Institute. Published by Elsev ier Science Ltd.
