Abstract
A combined exciton-cyclotron resonance is found in the photoluminescen ce excitation and reflectivity spectra of semiconductor quantum wells with an electron gas of low density. In external magnetic fields an in cident photon creates an exciton in the ground state and simultaneousl y excites an electron between Landau levels. A theoretical model is de veloped and suggests the dominating contribution of the exchange excit on-electron interaction. (C) 1998 Academic Press Limited.
