A new wide slot antenna with capacitively coupled CPW-feed and metalli
c strips in the apertures is presented. The numerical analysis is base
d on the Galerkin moment method in the spectral domain approach. A sim
plified formula to calculate the input impedance is proposed. Theoreti
cal and experimental results demonstrate the significant performance i
mprovement of this modified structure. The influence of various design
parameters is investigated. A 50% impedance bandwidth (SWR <2.0) and
cross-polarisation levels below -20 dB are demonstrated.
