Abstract
Two cases of congenital wandering spleen with typical clinical course are reported: An 11-year old girl had a two month history of intermitt ent abdominal pain predominantly after physical stress. In upright pos ition a palpable resistance could be identified as wandering spleen by ultrasound and scintiscan, and in this case splenopexy was performed. An otherwise healthy 3-year old girl suffered from acute abdomen caus ed by torsion of an upside-down spleen with partial infarction. Diagno sis was made based on ultrasound and CT-Scan. The extent of infarction could be evaluated by color flow sonography. After partial resection splenopexy in orthotopic position was performed. Discussion: In situat ions of intermittent abdominal pain as well as acute abdomen torsion o f wandering spleen should be taken into consideration.
