Abstract
In the paper, the various ways of application of the Poincare sphere t o the polarization optics and the optics of anisotropic media proposed in the literature have been reviewed and enriched. The considerations do not include ellipsometry being reduced to the most elementary case of transmitting and reflection of polarized light at the border of th e isotropic media.
