Family preservation is a rapidly growing practice approach. initially
developed for families when there was imminent risk of placement of a
child, it is now applied in a number of different settings. This artic
le discusses the application of family preservation in families with e
lder members and includes a presentation of the major principles and v
alues of family preservation practice, an illustration of the applicat
ion of family preservation to a family with elder members, and a discu
ssion of the implications of this practice approach.
