Two silica-pillared layered ferrititanates were synthesized by first p
reswelling K0.8Fe0.8Ti1.2O4 with n - C6H13NH3Cl, then reacting with NH
2(CH2)(3)Si(OC2H5)(3) and finally calcinating the resultant product in
air to remove the interlayered organics. XRD, IR,DTA/TG, Mossbauer sp
ectroscopy, X-ray fluorimetry, specific surface area and pore size dis
tribution measurements were used to characterize the obtained new mate
rials. The results show that these two silica-pillared layered ferriti
tanates have high thermal stability beyond 650 degrees C,BET specific
surface area of 98.0 m(2)/g and 163.8 m(2)/g, and average pore size of
1.82 nm and 1.90 nm, respectively.
