Abstract
Further studies on chiral resolution of drugs with different chemical structures by capillary zone electrophoresis using iron-free human ser um transferrin are described. The substances passed a highly concentra ted pseudo-stationary protein zone applied in a coated capillary and t he possible chiral separation of the optical isomers was followed. Eig hteen drugs with different structures were screened, and the enantiome rs of clofedanol, buphenine, acebutolol and chlorphenamine were resolv ed. Several, but not all drugs, showed longer migration times while pa ssing the protein zone, indicating an interaction with transferrin, al though chiral resolution was not observed in all cases. The observatio ns provided further information about the properties of the surface in teraction sites of transferrin.
