Abstract
A theoretical model is developed to describe the effect of optical osc illation detected recently in a photorefractive BaTiO3 crystal subject ed to two counterpropagating pairs of pump beams. The model explains t he characteristic features of the above effect and predicts a number o f new peculiarities that we have found in additional experiments.
