Abstract
We report on a novel kind of self-assembling monolayer (SAM) consistin g of large organic molecules on a bimetallic surface. Propylbenzoat re acts with a monoatomically thin rubidium (Rb) layer on a chromium (Cr) film. The interaction between propylbenzoat and Rb and the strong int eraction between Rb and Cr result in the formation of a SAM. The SAM c an protect the underlying substrate from etching.
