The Br-2(-.)-induced oxidation and electron transfer in N-(N-phosphory
lmethionyl) tryptoyl methyl ester (NDM-TrpOMe) in aqueous solution wer
e investigated using pulse radiolysis technique. The results indicated
that the N-phosphoryl methioyl and tryptoyl group were oxidized by Br
-2(-.) radicals simultaneously, and intramolecular electron transfer f
rom tryptophan to the three-electron-bonded intermediate containing su
lfur occured. Some kinetic parameters were determined and the reactive
mechanism was deduced.
