Abstract
For the production of citric acid a four stage process consisting of t he fermentation stage, extraction stage, reextraction stage and produc t stage has been tested. The present paper discusses the results of th e extraction and the reextraction stage. Further a fermentation with r ecirculation of the fermentation broth after the product recovery is e xplained. The product recovery is achieved by a liquid-liquid extracti on in a spray column.
