THE INFLUENCE OF SLURRY CONCENTRATION ON THE THEORETICAL FILTRATION EFFICIENCY OF A TRANSVERSAL HIGH-GRADIENT MAGNETIC FILTER CELL WITH BOUNDED FLOW-FIELD
O. Rotariu et al., THE INFLUENCE OF SLURRY CONCENTRATION ON THE THEORETICAL FILTRATION EFFICIENCY OF A TRANSVERSAL HIGH-GRADIENT MAGNETIC FILTER CELL WITH BOUNDED FLOW-FIELD, Powder technology, 96(1), 1998, pp. 42-47
In this work the influence of the volumetric fraction of the solid pha
se on the magnetic filtration efficiency is studied by taking into acc
ount the effect of the solid particle concentration in the slurry upon
its rheological and magnetic properties. A high gradient magnetic fil
ter (HGMF) cell with transversal configuration is considered, within w
hich the suspension contains small paramagnetic particles of spherical
shape and identical from the point of view of their size and magnetic
properties (uniformly distributed in the magnetic active space). The
maximum recovery conditions are determined by numerically solving the
particle trajectory equations, which have been derived by neglecting b
oth inertial and gravitational effects, as well as any kind of particl
e interactions except for hydrodynamic effects. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scie
