REFERENCE MATERIALS FOR LONG-TERM ENVIRONMENTAL-PROGRAMS

The application of reference materials (RMs) for quality control in an alytical chemistry within long-term environmental monitoring and banki ng programs is described. The profitable use of different levels of RM s, in particular the introduction of problem-designed internal control materials and internal reference materials at the German Environmenta l Specimen Bank is demonstrated. Moreover, further demands from biosph ere-oriented programs for future developments of certified reference m aterials (CRMs) are discussed.
