SORBUS MARGITTAIANA, AN ENDEMIC OF KRIVANSKA FATRA MTS

New information on morphology, chorology and endemism of hybridogeneou s species Sorbus margittaiana (JAV.) KARPATI is provided. Briefly demo nstrated findings of three new allied Western Carpathian species corro borate the conclusion that S. margittaiana is a narrow endemic restric ted to Krivanska Fatra Mts. It is argued that both participation of S. austriaca (G. BECK) HEDLUND in the parent combination of S. margittai ana and the occurrence of S. austriaca itself in Western Carpathians i s very unlikely.
