J. Hrib et al., INHIBITION OF MYCELIAL GROWTH OF PHAEOLUS-SCHWEINITZII BY HYDROLYSATES DIFFUSED FROM CULTURED CONIFER MEGAGAMETOPHYTES, BIOLOGIA, 53(1), 1998, pp. 111-114
The megagametophytes of European black pine (Pinus nigra ARN.), Mugo p
ine (Pinus mugo TURRA), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Norway sp
ruce (Picea, abies (L.) KARST.) were precultured on modified MS (MURAS
HIGE & SKOOG, 1962) agar medium. After their removing from the medium
the tester basidiomycete Phaeolus schweinitzii was inoculated. Very st
rong inhibition of mycelial growth by substances diffused from pines m
egagametophytes was found. The hydrolysates from spruce megagametophyt
es appeared to be weaker inhibitors of mycelial growth. Proteins diffu
sed from pre-cultured megagametophytes were analysed by SDS-PAGE.
