The results of measurements of tangential and transverse (with respect
to the current axis) neutron spectra during deuterium-tritium experim
ents carried out in the TFTR tokamak in 1997 are presented. The spectr
a are measured by using three natural-diamond neutron spectrometers. T
he energy resolution of the spectrometers (about 2-3%) provides measur
ements of both the spectrum broadening and the shift of the maximum of
the energy distribution of tangential neutrons during the unbalanced
injection of neutrals. The analysis of the measured spectra based on a
semianalytical model allows the determination of the average tangenti
al and transverse energies of the beam ions in an anisotropic TFTR pla
sma.
