Abstract
Algorithmic aspects of energy dissipation mechanisms of dynamic struct ural systems in conjunction with central difference time integration m ethod are investigated and damping proportional to M(M-1K)(m) (where K is the stiffness matrix, M is the mass matrix and m is a damping para meter) is proposed. Detailed algorithms for M(M-1K)(m) proportional da mping for the central difference time integration method are presented together with stability criteria and numerical test problems.
