A numerical model of the fluorescent lamp positive column suitable for
use in simulating the interaction between lighting and HVAC systems i
n enclosures is presented. The model was modified from existing models
in the literature to include only sufficient details for simulating t
he conversion of electric energy into light and heat. Details of the f
luorescent lamp positive column model are described. The model present
ed was incorporated within an existing model, LITEAC1 (described in Pa
rt I), that had been used for modelling the interaction between lighti
ng and HVAC systems in enclosures. The resulting model, called LITEAC2
, was tested by simulating the performance of a fluorescent lamp in a
laboratoy constructed test cell. It was found that the positive column
model enabled better predictions for the lighting/air-conditioning in
teraction, and improved the modelling of illuminance on room surfaces.
