Abstract
Substance abuse counselor supervisors were surveyed to determine their perceptions of their supervisory style. Two measurements of superviso r style were used; the Supervisory Styles Inventory (Friedlander & War d, 1984) and the Supervisory Styles Index (Long, Lawless, & Dotson, 19 96). Overall, the supervisors assessed themselves to be significantly more attractive and interpersonally sensitive than task-oriented Young er and graduate level supervisors perceived themselves as exhibiting m ore egalitarian supervisory behaviors.
