Hepatitis C is frequently associated with immune-mediated diseases, su
ch as cryoglobulinemia. Guillain-Barre syndrome is an acute demyelinat
ing neuropathy of probable immune pathogenesis. We describe two patien
ts with Guillain-Barre syndrome, and associated chronic hepatitis C, t
he second one previously treated with interferon. The link between bot
h conditions may be hepatitis C being the trigger of this immune polyn
europathy. Guillain-Barre syndrome should be added to the list of cond
itions associated with hepatitis C.
