Abstract
With the help of combined IR and MAS NMR data a mechanism is proposed for the surface reaction of CCl4 with faujasites. The first intermedia te COCl2 is detected by both the Fermi resonance in IR and C-13-NMR. T he appearence of the final product CO2 is accompanied by a rather high dealumination. The experimental data all support the proposed mechani sm.
