Abstract
This paper is the second of two companion papers concerning the diffic ulties in applying the 'equivalent' static method for the seismic desi gn of buildings which do not have a real elastic axis. We present the use of the fictitious elastic axis for the evaluation of the torsional effects in the said buildings, according to the code provisions. In t he general case, the full seismic design is achieved by the use of thr ee spatial analyses of the system, by means of which the location of t he fictitious elastic axis is also identified.
