Abstract
Research into the phenomenon of revictimization has consistently demon strated that a very small proportion of all people and places suffer f rom a disproportionate amount of victimizations. Whenever victims of b ath personal and household crimes are likely to be victimized again, v ictimization is most likely to occur a very short time after the initi al offences. Findings from this study confirm these ideas. Only 1.2 pe r cent of all residences in the jurisdiction studied suffered from 29 per cent of all burglaries reported to the police between the years 19 92 and 1994. Furthermore, 25 per cent of the burglary revictimizations occurred within one week of the initial offences, while 51 per cent o ccurred within one month. These findings are discussed in the context of prevention of burglary revictimization.
