Photoconductive properties and atomic structures have been studied in
CdO(PbO)-SiO2-B2O3 ternary glasses to obtain insight into photoconduct
ion in amorphous materials. X-ray diffraction patterns indicate that C
dO and PbO phases exist in these glasses. Photoconduction spectra in C
dO-containing glasses show sub-bandgap responses, which are modified w
ith light soaking. Photocurrents become smaller at lower temperatures.
These observations suggest that photocurrents flow through percolativ
e CdO phases. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
