Abstract
Novel donor-acceptor functionalized pentafulvenes have been synthesize d and characterized. Structural data have been obtained by single crys tal X-ray diffraction. Their molecular and macroscopic second-order no nlinear optical properties have been investigated, via electric field induced second harmonic generation (EFISH) in solution and by second h armonic generation with evanescent wave (SHEW) in the solid state.
