Abstract
Synthesis of dimethyl swazinecate, a principal component of the pyrrol izidine alkaloid swazine, was completed from (S)-(-)-beta-citronellal; an X-ray crystallographic analysis of natural swazine confirmed its a bsolute stereostructure.
