Stability of a compressed fluid conveying pipe is analyzed. It is assu
med that the pipe is fixed at one end and free at the other. At the fr
ee end the pipe is loaded with a concentrated force od constant intens
ity and fixed direction. The constitutive equations for the pipe are t
aken in a form that allows pipe axis extensibility and rakes into acco
unt the influence of shear stresses. It is shown that the pipe could l
ose stability either by divergence or by flutter. Both flutter and div
ergence stability boundaries are determined for several values of para
meters. (C) Elsevier, Paris.
