Abstract
A redescription is given for the 1-tentacled Anthomedusa Paragotoea ba thybia from new specimens collected in the Weddell Sea. The comparativ e study of the previous descriptions of this species permitted to defi ne a new diagnosis for the genus which has been ascribed to the family Corymorphidae. The family Paragotoeidae Ralph, where P. bathybia was formerly included, is supressed. The 4-tentacled reconstructed stage c onsidered by Ralph (1959) as the adult stage of P. bathybia is a new s pecies placed in a new genus: Tetraralphia hypothetica, (Capitata ince rtae sedis).
