Abstract
Ruminal degradation of the dry matter and neutral detergent fiber of c oast-cross (Cynodon dactylon) forage, when previously inoculated with Saccharomyces cerevisiae or Humicola sp., was estimated by in vitro in cubation. The potential dry matter degradability was incresead in the presence of S. cerevisiae, whereas the incubation with Humicola sp. re sulted in improvement of the neutral detergent fiber degradability. Th e rate of dry matter digestion was enhanced to above 15% with the inoc ulation with S. cerevisiae. The inoculation with S. cerevisiae or Humi cola sp. increased the rate of digestion of the neutral detergent fibe r in relation to the control treatment.
