The authors describe a method that interfaces sulfur chemiluminescence
detection with open-tubular column supercritical fluid chromatography
(SFC) using 100% supercritical carbon dioxide as the mobile phase. Wi
th the high sensitivity and selectivity of sulfur chemiluminescence de
tection, they successfully analyzed diesel fuel and other heavy refine
ry samples. These samples usually are difficult to analyze using gas c
hromatography because of their less-volatile sulfur-containing compone
nts.
