Abstract
A phenomenological description of martensitic transformation is propos ed on the basis of such parameters as: a degree of lattice coherency b etween austenite and martensite phases, mobility of interphase boundar ies, elastic energy stored during martensitic transformation and degre e of its relaxation. Some experimental results confirming the proposed ideas are presented.
