Q - T interval was measured on electrocardiograms recorded at rest and
during hypoxic stress in 66 patients, Forty two of these patients had
non-insulin-dependent diabetes including 21 patients with signs of di
stal neuropathy. Q - T interval corrected for heart rate (Q - T-c) was
calculated according to the Bazett formula, Prolongation of Q - T-c w
as observed in patients with neuropathy both at rest and during hypoxi
a, By the forth minute of hypoxia in neuropathy patients Q - T-c excee
ded 0,440 s and its value correlated closely with pulse rate (r=0,84,
p<0,01). Basing on these results monitoring of the Q - T-c interval is
recommended as an complementary specific test of diagnosis of diabeti
c autonomic (vegetative) cardiac neuropathy.
