Vk. Skachkova et al., EFFECT OF METALLOPORPHYRINS ON THE ELIMIN ATION OF HYDROGEN-CYANIDE DURING THERMAL-OXIDATION OF POLYACRYLONITRILE, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 40(2), 1998, pp. 273-278
The possibility of decreasing the content of HCN (up to its complete e
limination) in the volatile products of degradation formed during the
thermooxidative structurization of polyacrylonitrile is demonstrated,
This effect is achieved by introducing 1-6% of a metallocomplex of tet
raphenylporphyrin or its structural analogs into the starting polyacry
lonitrile. The reaction of metalloporphyrins with HCN formed upon the
degradation of PAN was studied under the model conditions, This reacti
on leads to the incorporation of -CH=N and -CH=O groups into a macrocy
cle of metalloporphyrin, which can participate in intermolecular react
ions to yield high-molecular-mass compounds based on metalloporphyrins
. Metalloporphyrin contained in PAN as an additive is incorporated int
o a heterocyclic structure upon thermal treatment. It is suggested tha
t metalloporphyrins with functional groups produced by the reaction wi
th HCN are involved in the process as intermediate compounds.
