Sb. Seredenin et al., THE STUDY OF ANXIOLYTIC ACTIVITY OF TUFTS IN ANALOG IN INBRED MICE WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF EMOTIONAL-STRESS REACTION, Zurnal vyssej nervnoj deatelnosti im. I.P. Pavlova, 48(1), 1998, pp. 153-160
The anxiolytic efect of the synthetic analogue of the endogenous pepti
de tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) was studied in inbred mice Ba
lb/c (C) and C57Bl/6 (B6) with different heritable types of emotional-
stress reaction, In C strain with genetically high level of anxiety an
d ''passive'' type of behaviour under conditions of avoidable and unav
oidable stress (open field, elevated plus-maze, light-dark chamber) th
e heptapeptide prevented manifestations of anxiety being administered
intraperitoneally in a wide range of active doses (200-3000 mcg/kg), T
he drug did not change the behaviour of B6 mice with low level of anxi
ety and active type of emotional-stress reaction, The described effect
is comparable with tranquillizing-activatory action of low doses of b
enzodiazepine tranquillizers, however, in contrast to the latter, the
heptapeptide has no side inhibitory behavioural effects even in high d
oses, The heptapeptide may be considered as a promising new anxioselec
tive drug without side inhibitoty behavioural effects which are typica
l for benzodiazepine tranquillizers.
