Abstract
This article reviews the anatomy of the physis and the most common cla ssification of injuries or fractures through the physis. The common ap ophyseal injuries of Osgood-Schlatter, Severs disease and iliac apophy sitis, are reviewed in addition to a review of the most common osteoch ondritides, including Panner's disease and Osteochondritis Dessicans o f the femur and talus. An understanding of these is key to diagnosis a nd treatment of adolescent musculoskeletal injuries. This article also reviews slipped capital femoral epiphysis, little leaguer's elbow, an terior cruciate and collateral ligament injuries, patella problems, an kle sprains and several common fractures in children.
