Vv. Terzija et al., FAULT DISTANCE ESTIMATION AND FAULT TYPE DETERMINATION USING LEAST ERROR SQUARES METHOD, EUROPEAN TRANSACTIONS ON ELECTRICAL POWER, 8(1), 1998, pp. 57-64
In order to avoid autoreclosure onto a permanent fault, a new numerica
l algorithm for fault type determination is presented. It estimates th
e fault distance, as well, and cml be utilized in the field of distanc
e protection. The new approach, mathematical model and the solution fo
r the earthless faults is given. Far the purpose of unknown fault dist
ance and are voltage amplitude estimation, the Least Error Squares Met
hod is used. The new algorithm is tested through numerous computer sim
ulations and in the laboratory environment.
