Abstract
The mechanism of the alkylation of GeI2 by n-butyl bromide and methylc obalt(III) bisdimethylglyoximate in acetonitrile was studied using cyc lic voltammetry. The reaction with the methylcobalt complex occurs via anodic activation (oxidation of the methylcobalt complex), while the reaction with n-butyl bromide is initiated by cathodic activation (red uction of GeI2).
