Abstract
A hypercoordinated 2,2'-diaurated 4-tert-butylbiphenyl derivative, whi ch contains an intramolecular Au...Au secondary bond, was first synthe sized by the reaction of 2,2'-dilithio-4-tert-butylbiphenyl with ClAuP Ph3. The structure of the complex was established by X-ray structural analysis, H-1 and P-31 NMR spectroscopy, and fast-atom bombardment mas s spectrometry.
